All You Need to Know about Getting Around

Getting around is easy and convenient with all the transportation options available to residents at Spinner Place. Nestled into the heart of Winooski, residents can easily access sidewalks, bike paths, transit routes, car sharing and open spaces.

Team up with one or more people to share a ride! Save money and enjoy some social time simply by connecting with those who live next to you. It’s cool to carpool! And super easy with two free options.

Wheeli, is a carpooling network exclusively for college students. Students looking for a ride home can search for rides on the new Wheeli app. Drivers can post their rides to fill their empty car seats and save gas money.

Go VT Zimride Ridesharing Network, is a Vermont state-wide carpooling network connected to Facebook. Sign up and see how it works.

Taking the local city bus service is a great way to get around Winooski and beyond, and the best part is that it’s FREE for UVM & Champlain students. The local bus service is provided by GMT (Green Mountain Transit). Find more information about routes and schedules on their website or use Google Transit to plan a trip today!

CarShare Vermont is an easy and affordable way to gain access to a car (or truck, or minivan). There are 15 vehicles parked in convenient spots throughout Burlington and Winooski, including inside the parking garage and on the Champlain & UVM campuses that you can use to go where you want, whenever you want.

Full-time students at Champlain & UVM get a FREE membership to CarShare Vermont (that’s a $150 value!).

Biking is an efficient, healthy and environmentally responsible transportation option, not to mention easy on your wallet. There are many great options and resources for residents who own a bike or need one. Check out these resources for more information.

Pump up a tire, tighten a nut, or use the other tools available at the Fix-It bike station located just across the street outside the Champlain Mill. There is no cost to use these tools.

Covered bike parking can be found under the entry way along Main Street.

Give yourself the opportunity to look up and see the beauty all around you. Walking is an extremely cost effective way to get around and with destinations within walking distance it’s the best way to see the city. Here are some tips to walking safely.
