Fall is crazy. Starting a new semester is insane. And the stress and pressure of showing up to the right class at the right time in the right building, is exhausting. So exhausting that figuring out weekend plans is left off the “to-do” list. Don’t worry – we’ve got your first 5 weekends covered with our list of cool things to do in Burlington.
Farmer’s Markets– On Saturdays, Burlington has a large Farmer’s Market in City Hall Park (right off of Church Street). There are always fresh vegetables, flowers, local meat, and some DELICIOUS premade food (the dumplings are a MUST). On Sundays, Winooski has a Farmer’s Market right in front of Spinner Place. Although it is smaller than Burlington’s, it still has many of the same great offerings!
Sample local breweries– Burlington has some of the best breweries in the country. With everything from ciders to double IPAs all beer lovers will find something they love. We recommend checking out Foam Brewers located right on the Burlington Waterfront and Switchback Brewing on Flynn Avenue.
Shelburne Farms- Located on 1,400 acres of land just outside of Burlington, this is a great place to spend the day. Tour the museum, the farm, or just spend the day walking the open areas. In the gift shop you can sample some of their cheese and jams made right on the farm. They offer 4 different types of tours ranging from $13-20/per person. This is the perfect place for any history lover!
Live Music– Burlington definitely does live music right. Most of the bars on Church Street have a band or DJ on the weekends. Radio Bean offers great craft cocktails (even boozy milkshakes!!) and a wide variety of musicians and DJs every weekend. If you are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere than the Church Street bars, this a definitely a place to check out!
Parks– Burlington has numerous beautiful parks. A personal favorite is Oakledge Park. Located on Flynn Avenue in Burlington, Oakledge has tennis courts, stand up paddleboard and kayak rentals, a large pavilion, and a great beach! With plenty of walking trails, there is something for everyone. It is the perfect place to pack a picnic lunch and spend the day!
